Best mixer to prevent settling of solids in wastewater pits

Depending on the size of the wastewater pit a top entry agitator, mounted on a bridge, it’s usually the optimum mixer for this application. If the wastewater pit is square or rectangular, a top entry agitator with toroidal or radial impellers can be mounted on centre, to prevent the settling of solids. If the wastewater pit is round and has no baffles, then the agitator needs to be mounted off centre.

Agitators for wastewater applications are typically positioned in dirty adverse environments and use IP65 3 phase drives to prevent water ingress in the electrics. All 316 stainless steel shafts and impellers are used for durability. Rubber or PTFE-coated impellers and shafts can be used if the wastewater is highly abrasive. In applications where the effluent is corrosive, 2205 Duplex mixing impellers and shaft can be used.
